Charlottesville, VA 22911 Morehead City DCM Re: Objection to the Issuance of CAMA General Permit No. 50561-A for the construction of a bulkhead at 207 Hunt Club Trail, Hertford, Perquimans County Dear Mr. And Mrs. Alley: This letter is in response to your objection as an adjacent riparian property owner to a permit request from Mr. Schnaebele for the general permit for a bulkhead in Holiday Island, Perquimans County. Kelly Russell, of the Division of Coastal Management staff, was recently on site to evaluate the permit applicant's request. The permit applicant has requested a permit to construct a bulkhead on his property at 207 Hunt Club Trail, Hertford, Perquimans County on a manmade canal opening into the Albemarle Sound. Under the Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA), the Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) has established Rules for General Permits for this type of development that are found in 15A NCAC 07H .1100. You have notified the Division of Coastal Management of your objections to this proposed development by faxed letter and by mail. Your objections to this proposed development are that you "do not wish to waive the 15 ft. setback requirement" and that you intend to sell you property and you feel the new owner should be involved with the notification process. The Division has reviewed your objections, along with all aspects of this development proposal for consistency with the aforementioned Rules, which describe the CRC's standards and guidelines for this type of development. Our review of the proposed development has found it to be consistent with these Rules; specifically, 1. There is no 15 ft. setback requirement for shoreline stabilization projects. 2. You are the owner of record of the adjacent riparian property (Lot 1N Whitetail Court, Holiday Island Subdivision) to the applicant's property. Your objection letter makes reference to a possible sale of your property but no buyer is provided, nor is a date of sale provided.
