The five property owners next to Morgan Creek Landings on the Old Beaufort Causeway,
Morehead City, NC strongly object to any further construction, alterations or dredging of Morgan
Creek Landing project and boat docks.
During the end of construction and completion of the Morgan Creek project we have encountered
their storm runoff on our properties which includes flooding of the Mobile Home located at 238 Old
Causeway Rd. The "b„ 1-k-head" on our properties now has a crack in it due to all of , e excess
water runoff.
Dredging of the area will only cause our piers, bulkhead and any boat lifts to collapse within the
very near future. We have owned this property(s) for over 40 years and we strongly object to the
destruction of our property. We have been very diligent in paying our county and city taxes as
well as abiding by all laws of the city, county and state. Up until the Morgan Creek project began,
we had never had flooding problems on our property(s). Now we are very afraid of what will
happen when the next Hurricane comes or a strong North Eastener.
We had been assured by Waterfront Properties (Radio Island Development) that they would install
drains to take care of the storm water runoff, but nothing has happened. We have also brought this
to the attention of the Morehead City Manager — Randy Martin who was present when this promise
was made. David Livingston from the NC Department of Transportation was present at the meeting
and agreed to add additional soil to our property adjacent to the Causeway, which has been done,
but this has only washed away and is not solving the flooding problem after each rain.
We would greatly appreciate you looking into this matter as soon as possible and stopping all
permits to do any further construction, alterations or dredging in this area. We are not the only
property owners that will be affected should our bulkhead and piers start collapsing. It will filter on
down the Causeway and strongly affect many homeowners and the waterway.
Should you feel the need to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to give me a call, or any of
the homeowners listed below. Needless to say, we are very upset over the present situation which
remains unresolved.
