Attention: Jim Hoadley
Subject: Request for a GP 1100 permit for 90 ft. of bank stabilization along the Roanoke River in Bertie/
Martin County.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting a General permit 1100 for a bank
stabilization project in Bertie/Martin County. The project is located on the banks of the Roanoke River on
the Martin county side. The existing bank is currently bulk headed with a wooden structure that is failing
due to deterioration. North and South of the project location the banks are currently stabilized with class II
rip -rap. The proposed project will tie into the existing rip -rap shoreline. NCDOT is proposing to remove
the old wooden bulkhead and replace it with Class II rip -rap. This is depicted in the provided permit
drawings. This project will result in 720 sq. ft. of permanent fill in surface waters of the Roanoke River.
The MP forms, adjacent landowner notices, vicinity maps, pictures and permit drawings are included with
this letter. If you need any additional information or have any questions concerning this project please call
me at 252-482-7977.
