It is my understanding you are requesting help with the general permit process. I have attached all the required forms as well as the rule which addresses piers under the general permit process. I have researched your property thru aerial photography and it seems there shouldn't be a problem, however it must meet all of the required criteria for the 7H .1200 pier rules. Every property is site specific so I would need to make a site visit to document site conditions etc. As far as the process you will need to send the Adjacent Riparian Property Owners Statement forms to your neighbor on the left and your neighbor on the right of your property as well as a drawing showing the dock dimensions, platform dimensions, boatlift dimensions etc. Once you have obtained their signatures then you would need to send these forms and drawing to me so I could conduct my site visit. I have indentified thru the Carteret County Tax office, your adjacent neighbors to be Dorothy Lessey ( Mail address- 223 Sea Trace Lane Newport, NC 28570) and Susan Lynn Geiges ( Mail Address- 209 Sea Trace Lane Newport, NC 28570. There are certain criteria that must be met in order to permit a 400' pier. If you look in the attached 7h .1200 rules in section .1205 (c) Piers and docking facilities longer than 200 feet shall be permitted only if the proposed length gives access to deeper water at a rate of at least one foot at each 100 foot increment of pier length longer than 200 feet, or if the additional length is necessary to span some obstruction to navigation. Measurements to determine pier and docking facility lengths shall be made from the waterward edge of any coastal wetland vegetation, which borders the water body. What this means is from 200' to 300' you would need 1 foot of fall and so forth. An example would be at 200 feet the water depth is 1 foot so at 300 feet it would need to be 2 foot and so forth. These water depths would need to be shown on the drawings as well. It is my understanding you are requesting help with the general permit process. I have attached all the required forms as well as the rule which addresses piers under the general permit process. I have researched your property thru aerial photography and it seems there shouldn't be a problem, however it must meet all of the required criteria for the 7H .1200 pier rules. Every property is site specific so I would need to make a site visit to document site conditions etc. As far as the process you will need to send the Adjacent Riparian Property Owners Statement forms to your neighbor on the left and your neighbor on the right of your property as well as a drawing showing the dock dimensions, platform dimensions, boatlift dimensions etc. Once you have obtained their signatures then you would need to send these forms and drawing to me so I could conduct my site visit. I have indentified thru the Carteret County Tax office, your adjacent neighbors to be Dorothy Lessey ( Mail address- 223 Sea Trace Lane Newport, NC 28570) and Susan Lynn Geiges ( Mail Address- 209 Sea Trace Lane Newport, NC 28570. There are certain criteria that must be met in order to permit a 400' pier. If you look in the attached 7h .1200 rules in section .1205 (c) Piers and docking facilities longer than 200 feet shall be permitted only if the proposed length gives access to deeper water at a rate of at least one foot at each 100 foot increment of pier length longer than 200 feet, or if the additional length is necessary to span some obstruction to navigation. Measurements to determine pier and docking facility lengths shall be made from the waterward edge of any coastal wetland vegetation, which borders the water body. What this means is from 200' to 300' you would need 1 foot of fall and so forth. An example would be at 200 feet the water depth is 1 foot so at 300 feet it would need to be 2 foot and so forth. These water depths would need to be shown on the drawings as well.
