Shoreline Stabilization Plan
Lot #79
Owners: John and Camilla Sweeney
752 Sandy Point Drive
Beaufort, NC 28516
(252) 838-0097
C C T 0 8 2002
1. Lot #79 contains approximately 396.82 feet of beach frontage, half of which has a
clay embankment and the other half a sand dune facing the beach.
2. A trench approximately 150 feet in length, following the natural contour of the
embankment, needs to be dug in front of the clay, approximately 3 feet deep. A soil
stabilization fabric is to be wrapped and fastened to the clay embankment. A layer of
large marl/granite rocks will be piled on top of the fabric. The sand will be backfilled
to cover the marl and fabric to the height approximately one foot above the existing
clay embankment.
3. The embankment will be planted with vegetation which will be effective for soil
stabilization and long-term growth and will prevent further losses of soil in these cut -
bank areas. We will use species which currently thrive in the "dune -like"
environments, in particular American Beach Grass, Spartina patens and Spartina
alternaflora.
4. Above the mean high water mark we will landscape with low, salt resistant shrubs
and bushes such as Wax Myrtle, Yaupon Holly and Marsh Elder.
