To date we have constructed 312 feet of 5 feet wide dock across the marsh and 104 feet of 5 feet wide dock extending into the creek. What we are reapplying for that which is essentially the same that you signed off on in 2000. It consists of an 8 feet by 25 feet dock to the west with a 13 feet by 13 feet boat lift. To the east a 10 feet by 16 feet floating dock is proposed connected to the main dock with a 2 1/2 feet by 16 feet ramp. We need for you to agree to the following statement. "I hereby certify that I own property adjacent to Douglas W. Champion and Susan J. Suggs property located at lot 3 Back Creek West ( 885 Osprey Point Road) on Back Creek in Carteret County, NC. As described above, the development that Susan and Doug are proposing at that location, I have no objection to this proposal. I understand that a pier, boatlift must be set back a minimum distance of fifteen feet (15) from my area of riparian access unless waived by me." Please respond with either of the following. "I do not wish to waive the setback requirement." "I do wish to waive the setback requirement." Please respond to us and to Brad Shaver who is the permitting person working with us from the NC Coastal Area management Act office in Morehead City. brad. shaver(a-,)ncmail. net Thank -you for responding to this via email rather than US mail. Hope all is well. Please email any questions. As always I enjoy hearing of your journey. Riparian access is an imaginary line more or less perpendicular to the shore extending out into the water. Our dock structure is not planned to be within 15 of your western Riparian access line, so I don't think it matters either way that you answer the question. I am copying Brad Shaver who is the permitting officer. Maybe he can help explain better. Please email him directly for a real professional opinion of what it all means. We have not substantially changed the dock plans since you signed off earlier. By all means, please get comfortable with it before you agree or disagree. ----- Original Message ----- From: "michele beyler" <sysecondwind@hotmail.com> To: <dougonzenoroad@msn.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 11, 2003 2:41 PM Subject: Re: Request for help in obtaining dock permit (again) > Hi Doug > Sounds like you are making great progress - can the house be far behind! > Please forgive us for being BRAIN DEAD from being down here but we can't > remember what "riparian > access" is? I appreciate you taking the time to deal with. I can't remember if you did or did not wave them before. I think you did. I think it does not matter as the dock is not planned within the setback lines. Perhaps Brad could tell us whether or not you waived them the first time? I will copy him on this reply. Meanwhile, siding is on the house and progress continues. It is looking nice. We are getting excited about it, but realize that completion is many months away. Susan's job is in Carteret county now, so we are there a lot of the time, with kind of deluxe camping the in the 10 X 16 shed. Several friends have compared our shed existence to a live aboard boat but without the water...... Thanks.
