Statement of Compliance and Consistency
This permit is subject to compliance with this application, site drawing and attached general and specific conditions. Any
violation of these terms may subject the permittee to a fine or criminal or civil action; and may cause the permit to become
null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance. The
applicant certifies by signing this permit that 1) prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this permit, the applicant will
confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the local land use plan and all local
ordinances, and 2) a written statement or certified mail return receipt has been obtained from the adjacent riparian
landowner(s) .
The State of North Carolina and the Division of Coastal Management, in issuing this permit under the best available
information and belief, certify that this project is consistent with the North Carolina Coastal Management Program.

This letter is in response to a riparian notification letter sent to you by Mr. Steve Daniels
on behalf of Mr. David Ryans, owner of Lot 112 Village Landing Section in. Pirates Cove
Subdivision. You returned the letter with an "X" marked on the line that indicates you have an
objection to the proposed development which is a pier and a dock to be built off of Lot 112 on
the Roanoke Sound. I could find no enclosed remarks or comments regarding your objection.
The pier and dock will be located a minimum of 15 feet from the riparian line that separates your
property from Mr. Ryan's property.
Therefore, the Division of Coastal Management has given your objections careful
consideration and has determined that the project as proposed is consistent with the appropriate
rules and regulations and that all pre -requisite requirements have been met. Consequently, the
Division issued a general permit (copy attached) on October 30, 2002 to Mr. David Ryans for a
new pier and dock.
If you wish to appeal this permit decision, you may, file a request with the Director of the
Division of Coastal Management, Department of Environment and Natural Resources within 20
days of the permit decision. If you have any questions regarding this matter please don't hesitate
