The existing pipe is a 24" x 44-ft reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) and will be replaced with a 36" x 50-ft corrugated metal pipes (CMP). Replacement of this pipe is necessary due to pipe failure, creating a potential safety concern. Pipe size was recommended in order to accommodate for the drainage area and to allow for i ft of the pipe diameter to be set below normal bed elevation. The scope of the work will impact less than 0.01 acres of waters and wetlands associated with Cape Fear River By copy of this letter we are also requesting authorization from the Army Corp of Engineers, Wilmington District Office.
