The existing structure includes one 48" x 48-ft and two 60" x 48 ft corrugated metal pipe and will be replaced with a 141" x 86" x 54-ft aluminum corrugated metal pipes. A headwall will be placed on both the upstream and downstream ends of the pipes to stabilize the shoulder. Replacement of this pipe is necessary due to pipe failure, creating a safety concern. The existing pipe is perched on the outlet end. Pipe size was recommended in order to accommodate for the drainage area and to allow for 1 ft of the pipe diameter to be set below normal bed elevation. The scope of the work will impact 0.01 acres of waters and wetlands associated with Bell Branch By copy of this letter we are also requesting authorization from the Army Corp of Engineers, Wilmington District Office.
