Based upon our field review the following decisions were made concerning in -water work and the PNA moratorium. As discussed in the field the in -water activity consist of old pile extraction at all three bridges. Bridge 49 over Doe Creek. A obstruction (beaver dam) is downstream of the bridge therefore it was decided that the PNA moratorium could be waived on this project. Bridge 59 over Little Doe Creek. Since there are only 4 piles to be removed from the stream bed, it was decided that the minimum amount of time required to remove the piles would be of little impact. In addition this work would likely not be completed until after bridge 49 was completed and would occur later in the Spring which was preferred. Therefore we concluded that the Department would not be restricted by the moratorium at this site. Bridge 58 over Pamlico Creek. In water work required at this site will require the removal of six pilings. It was decide that the Department could proceed with this in - water work however a turbidity curtain would be required to isolated the work area during extraction of the piles.
