Subject: Re: dredging permit 5620 styron drive Pierce Creek
Hi Brad,
I have notified the adjacent riparian owners, by certified mail, about my proposed dredging project at
5620 Styron Drive on Pierce Creek.
The date the letters were received; Grogan 10/ and 10/8 Follendor£ Ten days would bring us to the 18th.
Terry Prescott has looked at the site and plans to haul away the spoils by truck.
Can we make plans to meet at 5620 Styron Drive Oriental on or after the 18th to review the project and
hopefully issue a general permit?
Thanks,
Steve La Breck

Mr. LaBreck,
Thank you for the inquiry. Here are the approval procedures to obtain a General Permit for maintenance
excavation of your canal: "(a)Applicants shall provide their name and address, the site location and the
dimensions of the project area.
(b) The applicant must provide:
(1) confirmation that a written statement has been obtained signed by the adjacent riparian property owners
indicating that they have no objections to the proposed work; or
(2) confirmation that the adjacent riparian property owners have been notified by certified mail of the proposed
work. Such notice should instruct adjacent property owners to provide any comments on the proposed
development in writing for consideration by permitting officials to the Division of Coastal Management
within ten days of receipt of the notice, and, indicate that no response will be interpreted as no objection.
DCM staff will review all comments and determine, based on their relevance to the potential impacts of the
proposed project, if the proposed project can be approved by a General Permit. If DCM staff finds that the
comments are worthy of more in-depth review, the applicant will be notified that he must submit an
application for a major development permit.
(c) No work shall begin until an onsite meeting is held with the applicant and a Division of Coastal
Management
representative to inspect and mark the proposed area of excavation and spoil disposal. Written authorization to
proceed with
the proposed development can be issued during this site visit. All excavation must be completed within 90 days
of the date of
permit issuance, or the general authorization expires." These General Permit rules can be found here:

I have not been contacted by Mr. Grogan with any such request. We are still working with him to get his dock
in compliance.

Subject: dredging permit 5620 styron drive Pierce Creek
Hi Brad,
How do I obtain a permit to dredge my existing dock at 5620 Styron Drive? I would dredge the existing
40ft dock to a depth of 6' and over towards Follendorfs floating docks which already have 6' of water under
them. I understand that Richard Grogan is planning to dredge,
Has that permit been issued yet?
Thanks,
Steve La Breck
