As you can see, there will be no bulkhead, only the riprap on lot #A. The structure will be approximately 100 feet long. It will go from 3 to 4 feet from the water line. Landscape fill will be filling a high ground approximately 100 by 180. Sedimentation will be controlled with grass and planting. Side profile is enclosed. On lot B there will be no bulkhead. The riprap on the front will not be disturbed since it is sufficient. If available, may use a small amount of riprap on the manmade canal. The canal is approximately 30 to 40 feet on either side. The present riprap on the front will not be disturbed. The riprap on the canal will extend several feet from the water line since the canal is very narrow (may need your advice regarding some of this). I have decided not to excavate the canal at this time since I don't know whether the excavater can reach far enough. When we have the interview on site, you may be able to give me some advice on this, but as of this point I am not planning to do that, only remove some dead logs and debris from the canal. Box 769 Morehead City, NC 28557 Dear Mr. Mercer P��►Mrr-� j SSE-F 2 4 19937 Mr'rsrrrrrr rr. r..r•wrr.n..nrwrw- As per our recent conversation, I am asking permission to do some filling and replinish the bulkhead on the two lots I own on Harbor Drive in New Bern off Jack Smith Creek. You are familiar with the one lot (the lot next to the Wooten lot). My proposal is to replinish the bulkhead on the adjacent lot keeping in line the stakes that you had previously placed on the lot adjacent to Wooten. I would like to fill in behind this bulkhead to prevent erosion of the lots. I would also like to grass and put plantings (live oak and wax myrtle) to further prevent erosion. I have enclosed permission signed by the adjacent owners, Mr. Wooten and Mr. Smith. t have talked with a contractor and, pending your permission, I will have him consult with you prior to the work. I am proposing to obtain the riprap from Renny's Mine close by. The fill will be sand and topsoil. They will be seeded with both ryegrass and centipede and graded. DSB/sbc Enclosures Addendum: Exact location is as follows: On National Avenue past National Cemetery take a right at Jack Smith Creek. Travel approximately 1/4 mile. The two lots are right across from A-1 Small Engine Shop which has many junk trucks in the yard. It is adjacent to the old bait shop (Wood property). This has tar paper cover on several sides. The lot adjacent to the old bait shop already has a pre-existing riprap which will not be disturbed in any way. The riprap will only be placed on the lot adjacent to that next to the Smith property.
