The North Carolina Department of Transportation proposes to repair two areas of erosion on the causeway shoulder on the west side of the Stella Bridge adjacent to the White Oak River. The dimensions of the eroded areas are 21 ft x 4 ft and 12 ft x 3 ft. It is proposed to drive sheet pile at the original shoulder edge and backfill with soil and seed these areas. At the present, less than two feet of shoulder exist at these areas which creates a safety hazard. A copy of this application has also been sent to the Army Corp of Engineers, Wilmington District Office to review for authorization.
