This permit is subject to compliance with this application, site drawing and attached general and specific conditions. Any
violation of these terms may subject the permittee to a fine or criminal or civil action; and may cause the permit to become
null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance. The
applicant certifies by signing this permit that [)prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this permit, the applicant will
confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the local land use plan and all local
ordinances, and 2) a written statement or certified mail return receipt has been obtained from the adjacent riparian
landowner(s) .

SUBJECT: Erosion repair at Sunset Beach Bridge, Brunswick County
Dear Mr. Arrington:
Please find enclosed a CAMA General Permit Application for erosion repair on the south side of Sunset
Beach Bridge on SR 1172 (Sunset Beach Blvd.) in Brunswick County. The North Carolina Department of
Transportation proposes to repair two areas of erosion on the causeway that are encroaching on the
roadway on the west side and the Bridge Tenders bathhouse on the east side of Sunset Beach Blvd. The
dimensions of the eroded areas are 34 ft x 8 ft and 18 ft x 6 ft. It is proposed to drive sheet pile at the
original shoulder edge and backfill with soil and seed these areas. Sheet pile is being used to avoid
Spartina sp. that has become established in these areas. Furthermore, it is our intention to pyramid stack
the existing bridge piles which are located at the site, along the shoreline to provide shoreline stabilization
where coastal vegetation does not exist.
By copy of this letter we are also requesting authorization from the Army Corp of Engineers, Wilmington
