The North Carolina Department of Transportation was unable to initiate construction of this project before the existing CAMA permit expired. The Department still proposes to repair the two areas of erosion on the causeway shoulder on the west side of the Stella Bridge adjacent to the White Oak River in the same manner (backfill and riprap) as described in the attached permit_ At the present, less than two feet of shoulder exist at these areas which creates a safety hazard. The Army Corp of Engineers, Wilmington District Office has issued a NWP 13 for this project. If you have any question or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (910) 251-5724.
