and attached general and specific conditions. Any violation of these terms
may subject the permittee to a fine, imprisonment or civil action; and
may cause the permit to become null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit of-
ficer when the project is inspected for compliance. The applicant certi-
fies by signing this permit that 1) this project is consistent with the local
land use plan and all local ordinances, and 2) a written statement has
been obtained from adjacent riparian landowners certifying that they
have no objections to the proposed work.
In issuing this permit the State of North Carolina certifies that this project
is consistent with the North Carolina Coastal Management Program.

Subject: Notice of Proposed Development at Lot 6 Trawler Lane,
Brandy Bay Subdivision, Florence, NC
Dear Dewey:
On August 21, 2001, I met with officials from the Division of
Coastal Management and completed an application form requesting
approval for a general permit for construction of a pier and
bulkhead, as well as the placement of riprap.
One of the objectives of the proposed development is to abate
further erosion of shoreline by constructing a bulkhead along
approximately 105 ft. of waterfront, less an area of
approximately 10 ft. which will be for the placement of riprap.
Also proposed is to replace an existing damaged pier with a new
pier, 6 ft. wide by 65 ft. long, to include a 10 ft. by 32 ft.
deck. The new pier shall not extend more than 25 percent of the
width across Simpson Creek.
One of the approval procedures involves obtaining a written
statement signed by the adjacent riparian property owners
indicating that they have no objections to the proposed
construction. We spoke August 1, 2001, on this subject, and you
indicated to me that you had no objections. I have enclosed a
form "Adjacent Riparian Property Owner Statement" for your
signature. Provide any comments on the proposed development in
writing within 10 days of receipt of this notice, for
consideration by the permitting officials to the attention of
Tracey Wheeler, Division of Coastal Management, North Carolina
Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Hestron Plaza
11, 151-B, Hwy. 24, Morehead City, NC 28557. No response will be
interpreted as no objection.
