Dear Ms. Hughes, The North Carolina Division of Air Quality (NCDAQ) has reviewed the submissions as required by Paragraph 8.c of the Consent Order and Section 2.2.D.1 of the facility's Title V Permit (Permit No. 03735-T48), received on February 16, 2021. As required by the Consent Order and the Title V permit, these submissions document that emissions of GenX Compounds during the calendar year 2020 had been reduced from the 2017 baseline emissions of 2,302.7 pounds to less than 23.027 pounds. Based upon the review of the submissions by NCDAQ staff, we have determined that the submissions follow established practices and procedures for emission estimation calculations for the facility during calendar year 2020. We have compared the data submitted for operations and controls during calendar year 2020 to the calendar year 2017 baseline of total reported emissions of GenX Compounds. We find that the emission estimate submissions support the conclusion that the 99%reduction requirements of GenX Compounds, as specified of the Consent Order and the Title V permit, have been met. NCDAQ looks forward to working with Chemours to better understand and refine facility-wide PFAS emissions in the coming year.
