Grace Consulting performed total particulate matter(PM)emissions testing of asphalt plant ES-1. The
test results are acceptable and demonstrate compliance with the applicable emissions standard.
Emissions Source ES-1 is a No. 2 and No.4 fuel oil/No. 2 and No. 4 equivalent waste fuel oil-fired batch
asphalt plant,which is allowed to utilize recycled,post-consumer waste,asphalt(asbestos-free) shingles
as an option in the mix. Emissions from ES-1 are controlled by simple cyclone 24768 and bagfilter
Ra-15-60. The maximum production capacity is 250 tons per hour(tph).
15A NCAC 2D .0506 Particulates From Hot Mix Asphalt Plants applies and limits total PM based on
actual production rate. Grace Consulting performed EPA Method 5/202 for total PM. The average
process rate during testing was 237.6 tons per hour. The 2D .0506 total PM emission limit is 54.2 pounds
per hour(lb/hr).
