1) Location/Directions
Perdue AgriBusiness-Ansonville is located at 2755 Old US Hwy 52 North(SR 1627),north of
Ansonville,NC. From FRO take Green St.to Gillespie St. and merge onto 195 BUS S. Continue on 195
S. Take the exit for HWY 74 W. in Maxton. Continue on HWY 74 W to Wadesboro.In Wadesboro,take
HWY52 N for 11 miles to Cedar Hill crossroads and turn left onto Old HWY52.The facility is
approximately 2 miles on the left.Office is on the right side of building.
2)Safety Considerations
Standard DAQ safety equipment required.While driving into facility,watch for trucks entering and
exiting; during inspection,be alert for trucks/railcars in receiving and load out areas. There is no need to
travel to the top of the silos at this facility, as emission points are clearly visible from the ground.
3) Facility and Process Description
The facility blends mineral supplements with various feedstocks including rendered animal proteins,
feather meal, and other ingredients. It was determined during the 2016 DAQ inspection of this facility that
the mineral additives used do not contain any of the compounds that would trigger NESHAP Subpart 71)
"Area Source Standards for Prepared Feeds Manufacturing". As a result,the facility is not subject to
NESHAP 71).However,the facility has asked to keep the 71) stipulation in their Air Permit to remain
consistent with other Perdue AgriBusiness facilities.
There is still a hammermill on-site,however,it is non-operational,and all associated ductwork and
control devices have been removed.
4)Inspection Summary
On May 15,2020,1, Jeff Nelson, of FRO DAQ,made a call to Perdue AgriBusiness-Ansonville and
spoke with Yvonne Green,Plant Assistant Manager.The purpose of this call was to perform a partial
compliance inspection during the COVID-19 outbreak.No physical inspection of the facility was
performed.Items discussed during this call were the following:
a. Is the facility operating?
The facility is operating normally.
b. Is the facility continuing to operate all relevant control devices?
Yes,the facility is operating normally and the fabric filters are still being operated as well.
C. Are all the required monitoring, inspection,and recordkeeping activities being conducted as
required in the air permit?
Yes,the recordkeeping has continued since COVID-19.
d. Are all periodic reports being submitted per the permit requirements?
Yes, all reports have been submitted as required. It is expected that all reports will be submitted
as per the permit requirements.
e. Is the permit nearing expiration?
No.The permit expires on June 30,2025.The company plans to submit a permit renewal
application on time.
f. Is the Air Quality Emission Inventory due soon?
No the Emission Inventory is not due until the next permit renewal, which will be during 2025.
g. Is there any upcoming testing required?
There is no upcoming testing.
h. Are there any operating issues at this time, or do they foresee any operating issues that will affect
their ability to meet the air quality requirements?
There are no operating issues currently and Mrs. Green does not foresee any coming in the future.
i. Do they require any assistance from DAQ at this time?
No assistance is required at this time.
5) 112R Status
This facility does not store chemical compounds that require a written risk management plan under the
Clean Air Act, Section 112R.
6)Non-compliance history since 2010
The facility has had no negative compliance issues since 2010.
7) Comments and Compliance Statement
Perdue AgriBusiness-Ansonville appeared to be in compliance with the conditions stipulated in the
facility's current air permit on 15 May 2020.
