Total Particulate Matter Emissions Testing of Boiler B-4
Performed January 30, 2020 by TRC Environmental Corporation

TRC Environmental Corporation performed EPA Method 5 emissions testing for filterable particulate
matter(PM)of Boiler B-4 on January 30, 2020. This is a retest following the September 2019 emissions
test which demonstrated an exceedance of the 40 CFR 60 Subpart Dc emissions limit. Testing was also
performed on January 7,2020 however the testing was aborted after observing the appearance of the filter
from the first run." The January 30,2020 test results demonstrate compliance with the applicable PM
emissions limits as discussed below.
Emissions Source B-4 is a 57.6 million Btu per hour(mmBtu/hr)rated wood-fired boiler controlled by
two multicyclones(MC-4 and MC-4A)and an ESP(ESP-4).
40 CFR 63 Subpart DDDDD National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Industrial,
Commercial, and Institutional Boilers and Process Heaters applies and limits the emissions of filterable
particulate matter(PM)to 0.037 pounds per million Btu(lb/mmBtu),hydrogen chloride(HCl)to
0.022 lb/mmBtu, carbon monoxide(CO)to 1500 parts per million by volume corrected to 3%oxygen
(ppmvd@3%02),and mercury(Hg)to 5.7E-61b/mmBtu. 15A NCAC 2D .0504 Particulates From Wood
Burning Indirect Heat Exchangers applies to B-2 and B-3 and limits PM to 0.45 lb/mmBtu. 40 CFR 60
Subpart Dc Standards of Performance for Small Industrial-Commercial-Institutional Steam Generating
Units applies to B-4 and limits filterable PM 0.03 lb/mmBtu.
