Directions: From Mooresville take I-77 North, take I-40 West to Claremont, take Exit 135,turn left onto
N. Oxford Street, turn right onto Hwy 70 West, travel approximately 3 miles, turn right onto Brian Drive,
the facility is located on the right at 1824 Brian Drive.
Safety Equipment: Safety glasses and steel toe shoes are required for walking through this facility.
Safety Issues: None.
Facility LAT/Long: A review of the facility's coordinates on"Map of Regulated AQ Facilities"
indicates the facility latitude and longitude coordinates are accurate. The coordinates are locked in
IBeam.
Email Contacts: The facility email contacts were verified. Changes were made in IBEAM.
Compliance Assurance Visit:
1. The purpose of this site visit was to conduct a routine compliance assurance visit. This facility
manufactures wooden furniture frames. The facility is currently operating one 8-hour shift per day
Monday through Thursday. Mr. Clifford Spencer,President, accompanied me during this inspection.
2. Facility Contact Information:
During the inspection I verified the facility contact information in IBEAM with Mr. Clifford. Spencer.
Mr. Clifford Spencer informed me that his son Steve would be taking over the company and should
replace Clifford as the main contact. Changes to the facility contact information were made in IBEAM.
3. Compliance History
No problems have been noted in the last five years by DAQ prior to this inspection. The current
compliance status is discussed in the following sections.
4. Source Observations:
This facility has one woodworking operation controlled by a simple cyclone (120 inches in diameter).
Collected wood waste drops from the cyclone into a storage bin. The bin is emptied as needed into a
dump truck. The plant does not have a wood hog. Large blocks are placed in a dump truck. The area
around the bin and dumpster was clean. Mr. Spencer indicated that the plant processes approximately

9,000 board feet of lumber, and 570 sheets of plywood per week on average. The collection system
was in operation with no visible emissions observed during this inspection.
The facility also has one natural gas fired boiler(0.255 million Btu per hour maximum heat input).
The boiler is used for comfort heat and was not in operation at the time of this inspection. The boiler
plate indicates that the Cleaver Brooks boiler was built October 25, 1972.
The facility does not have any generators, fire pumps, or gasoline storage tanks, and is not subject to
NESHAP Subpart 4Z, or NESHAP 6C. The facility does have a small boiler that operates on natural
gas only. This boiler is not subject to NSPS Dc or NESHAP Subpart 6J.
5. Exemption Qualification:
A permit rescission letter was issued by this office on September 20,2016.Actual emissions were based
on the 2015 calendar year production of 569,114 board feet of lumber, which was the highest production
rate that occurred during the last five years.Previous emission inventories submitted by this facility list
actual emissions in 2014 as 0.75 tons/year PM10 and 0.24 tons/year PM10 in 2009. Emissions from
the natural gas-fired boiler is negligible. No changes or modifications have been made to the equipment
since the last visit. Therefore,it appears that the facility's emissions have been and will continue to be
below the exemption thresholds.
6. Compliance Determination.
Based on my observations, this facility appeared to follow the air quality rules (21) .0521-visible
emissions;2D .0512-particulates from wood products finishing plants; 2D .0535-excess emissions and
2D .0540-fugitive dust emissions) at the time of the visit. The compliance assurance visit checklist is
attached on page 4 of this report.
