Filterable Particulate Matter Emissions Testing of Boiler B-3
By TRC Environmental Corporation on August 25,2021
DAQ Tracking No. 2021-206ST
TRC Environmental Corporation(TRC)performed EPA Method 5 for filterable particulate matter(PM)
emissions from boiler B-3. The emissions test results demonstrate compliance with the applicable
regulations.
Emission source B-3 is a wood fuel-fired boiler(28.7 million Btu per hour [mmBtu/hr] maximum heat input
capacity controlled by two multicyclones(MC-3 and MC-3A) and an electrostatic precipitator(ESP-3).
40 CFR 63 Subpart DDDDD National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Industrial,
Commercial, and Institutional Boilers and Process Heaters and 15A NCAC 2D .0504 Particulates from
Woodburning Indirect Heat Exchangers apply. The emissions test results are shown in the table below.
Pollutant Test Result' Emissions Limit Regulation Compliance
0.037 lb/mmBtu 63 Subpart DDDDD
Filterable PM 0.0042 lb/mmBtu Yes
0.45 lb/mmBtu 2D .0504
' lb/mmBtu=pounds per million Btu
Boiler B-3 averaged 19.7 mmBtu/hr(69%of maximum)heat input during testing. The emissions test results
demonstrate compliance with the applicable regulations. If there are any questions regarding this review,
