All known operating scenarios, control devices, and emission release points have been entered for each emission
source (permitted, insignificant, and unpermitted) or note that the emission source was not operated or not required to report.
Check if SCC codes for each OS are accurate and update if needed.
Evaluate "U" sources for significance and address according to policy.
Calculations / forms appear to add up correctly.
All compliance issues are being addressed (e.g. Toxics limits, above TV thresholds, large emissions
increase/decrease, installation without a permit).
All volatile HAPs/TAPs were included in the VOC total.
Calculations and control efficiencies appear correct. Emission factors are the best available and most current factors
appropriate for the reporting facility (e.g. stack testing, AP-42, etc.).
Review facility comments and address any issues.
Update ED (Data Entry Main) if additional information is required (corrections due date and date received).
Check all ED QA/QC reports.
Comparison with previous emission inventory must be made and outliers (> 10%) must be investigated and explained.

DAQ's Comments Regarding Inventory
~15% increase in CO, NOx, PM, VOC, & SO2, and combustion products (metals, POM, HCl, Hf,
etc.) due to 15% increase in throughput for OS5/Kiln 3.
Correction:
As with 2020, the PM emissions factors for Kiln 3 do not incorporate the condensable fraction,
resulting in a ~44% decrease in PM with a roughly 15% increase in production compared to the 2020
inventory.
DAQ made the same correction as last year to incorporate the condensable fraction:
1) 2017-02-09 Source test for Kiln 3 reports PM emissions of 0.16 pounds per ton of fired brick.
2) AP-42 Section 11.3, Table 11.3.1 cites EF of 0.48 lb/ton inorganic condensable PM and 0.11
lb/ton organic condensable PM for Natural Gas-fired Brick Kilns.
3) Summing these (0.16+0.48+0.11) gives an EF for TSP of 0.75 pounds per ton of fired brick.

Hi Buckley & Kevin,

I’m reviewing the 2021 Emission Inventory for Triangle Brick Merry Oaks (Fac#1900077), and I have
identified one issue we need to resolve.
We discussed this for several previous years, but I want to run it by you to be sure you agree with my
proposed revision:

As with 2019 and 2020, the PM emissions factors for Kiln 3 do not incorporate the condensable
fraction, resulting in a ~43% decrease in PM with a roughly 15% increase in production compared to
the 2020 inventory.

I will make the same correction as I made last year to incorporate the condensable fraction:

1) 2017-02-09 Source test for Kiln 3 reports PM emissions of 0.16 pounds per ton of fired brick.
2) AP-42 Section 11.3, Table 11.3.1 cites EF of 0.48 lb/ton inorganic condensable PM and 0.11
lb/ton organic condensable PM for Natural Gas-fired Brick Kilns.
3) Summing these (0.16+0.48+0.11) gives an EF for TSP of 0.75 pounds per ton of fired brick.
4) Assume TSP=PM10=PM2.5

This will increase the PM emission factor from 0.32 lb/ton fired to 0.75 lb/ton fired, so it will a bit
more than double the TSP/PM10/PM2.5 emissions.
TSP emissions for Kiln 3 as submitted in AERO for 2021 are 29.21 tons. Re-calculated at 0.75 lb/ton
they will be 68.45 tons. (Last year it was 59.62 tons)

Does that sound reasonable?

If you agree, I can easily make the changes myself.
