SUBJECT:
Dear Mr. Toste:
Merck Sharp and Dohme Corporation
Wilson, Wilson County, North Carolina
Facility ID: 9800161 ; Permit No.: 04884R27(during test)
Performed: February 22-24, 2022
Equipment tested: Three Diesel Fired Engines/Generators
Tracking No. 2022-011 ST
The Stationary Source Compliance Branch of the North Carolina Division of Air Quality has
reviewed the results of the subject tests to determine carbon monoxide emissions from three diesel-
fired generators/engines. After review, the test results were found to be acceptable and demonstrated
that the engines were in compliance with the applicable emissions standards during the test period.
The three diesel-fired engines are subject to 40 CFR 63 Subpart ZZZZ National Emission Standards
for Hazardous Air Pollutants from Reciprocating Internal Co mbustion Engines (RICE). Subpart
ZZZZ limits CO to 23 ppmvd at 15% oxygen or requires at least 70% reduction. The test results
indicated that the CO emissions ranged between 4.17 -4.89 ppmvd at 15% oxygen, thus
demonstrating compliance.
Please see the attached memorandum dated September 15, 2022, for more details including a contact
number for the test reviewer. If you have any questions for the Raleigh Regional Office concerning
this matter, please contact Dawn Reddix, Environmental Engineer, or me at (919)791-4200.
