Emissions Testing of Plastic Pyrolysis Unit ES 1
Perfom1ed Febrnary 21, 2020
Tr~cking No. 2018-238ST
Dear Mr. Batterjee:
The results of the subject EPA Method 5/202 for total particulate matter (PM), EPA Method 6C
for sulfur dioxide (SO2), EPA Method 7E for nitrogen oxides (NOx) and EPA Method 25A for
volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions testing from the plastics pyrolysis unit ES l have been
reviewed by the Division of A ir Quality's Stationary Source Compliance Branch. The emissions
test results are acceptable.
The tested emissions source, plastics pyrolysis unit, ES I is controlled by a natural and synthetic
gas-fired flare CD I. The plastics pyrolysis unit is subject to 15A NCAC 20 .0515 Particulates
from Afiscellancous Industrial Processes. 20 .0515 limits total PM based on the actual
production rate. Braven reported processing 2,060 lbs of plastics per hour; the PM emissions
limit is 4.1 8 pounds per hour. The emissions rate during the testing was 0.51 lb .lhr., thus
demonstrating compliance.
Please see the attached memorandum dated December 7, 2020 for more details including a contact
number for the test reviewer. If you have any questions for the Raleigh Regional Office, please
feel free to contact Dawn Reddix, Environmental Engineer. or me at (919) 791-4200.
