The significant change in DEBP was due to an incorrect emission factor(0.00024)used in the 2012 and 2008 emissions inventory. Kiln#3 did not operate in 2009,2010,and 2011. From AP-42,the emission factor for Diethylphthalate(0.00024 lbs/ton)was used instead of the emission factor for Bis(2-ethylhexy)phthalate(0.0020 lbs/ton). ED refers to CAS# 117-81-7 as"DEBP (Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthal'ate",which added to the confusion. 08/18/2014 Page 4 of 4 Williams, Stanley From: Rachel Kazanski <Rachel.Kazanski @erm.com> Sent: Monday, August 18, 2014 9:50 AM To: Williams, Stanley Cc: Beth Barfield Subject: RE: Emission Inventory for Triangle Brick - Merry Oaks (1900077) Ni Stan, You are right, that is the wrong throughput—I apologize for the mistake! For the 2013 you are reporting an annual throughput of 127,020 gallons. Please verify that this is correct because it just does not seem right tome that the throughput would be 17 times higher. The actual emission inventories were submitted using NCDAQ's AERO system. In addition we are submitting supporting emission calculations for each facility. Annual emissions were estimated using emission factors developed during a United States Environmental Protection Agency/Brick Association of North Carolina sponsored source test at our Merry Oaks facility, emission factors contained the AP-42 Section 11.3 "Brick and Related Clay Products," and AP42 fuel combustion emission factors. In addition, hydrogen fluoride, hydrogen chloride, and PM emissions are based on site specific source testing. Greenhouse gas emissions are not included since it is not mandatory and more importantly emission factors from brick plants are not readily available for these pollutants. Emissions of these pollutants will be included when required. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (919) 544-1796 or Beth Barfield at(919)233-4501.
