The throughput in 2012 is approximately 60%higher than the throughput in 2011. In the 2011 emissions inventory, the consultant for Triangle Brick under reported the throughput and when the correction was made by DAQ the amount of formaldehyde emitted did not get updated because the"optional emission factor tool"was left blank and this error went undetected until this year's review. The amount of formaldehyde emitted in 2011 should have been 23.52 pounds instead of 0.02 pounds. n... , x 09/23/2013 Page 4 of 4 ADuJ 1 June 19, 2013 J U N 2 6 ?0 i North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources Raleigh Regional Office Air Quality Section 3800 Barrett Drive Raleigh,North Carolina 27609 Attention: Air Emission Inventory Reference: Submittal of 2012 Air Emission Inventory Certification Form and Supporting Emission Calculations Triangle Brick Company—Merry Oaks Dear Sirs: Enclosed please find the 2012 Emission Inventory Certification Forms for Triangle Brick Company's Merry Oaks,North Carolina facility. The actual emission inventories were submitted using NCDAQ's AERO system. In addition we are submitting supporting emission calculations for each facility. Annual emissions were estimated using emission factors developed during a United States Environmental Protection Agency/Brick Association of North Carolina sponsored source test at our Merry Oaks facility, emission factors contained the AP-42 Section 11.3 "Brick and Related Clay Products," and AP-42 fuel combustion emission factors. In addition, hydrogen fluoride, hydrogen chloride, and PM emissions are based on site specific source testing.-Greenhouse gas emissions are not included since it is not mandatory and more importantly emission factors from brick plants are not readily available for these pollutants. Emissions of these pollutants will be included when required. Several emission sources have associated control devices that were not submitted into AERO due to technical issues. A table of these sources and their control devices are on the following page. Please add the control devices into your system. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (919) 544-1796 or Beth Barfield at(919)233-4501.
