Dear Ms. Hartsfteld:
Duke Energy Progress, LLC operates the ash beneficiation plant located at the Cape Fear STAR'
Facility in Moncure,Chatham County, North Carolina. The STAR' Ash Beneficiation Process(ES-5)
permit conditions 2.I.A.2.f and g contain a requirement to submit a semiannual report to include
excess emissions, monitoring systems summary report,and monthly sulfur dioxide(SO2)emissions
for the previous seventeen (17) months. Duke Energy conservatively submits the required reports on a
quarterly basis. The SO2 continuous emissions monitoring system(CEMS)was certified on January
27,202I. Operating time presented in the report includes all operating time for the quarter, while
CEMS data begins on the date of certification.
