Inventory Review
0 All forms and supporting documentation appear to be complete if paper submission(check ED OS data if electronic).
0 Contact, address, phone number changes entered into I-Beam/Facilities if necessary.
El All known operating scenarios, control devices, and emission release points have been entered for each emission
source(permitted, insignificant, and unpermitted)or note that the emission source was not operated or not required to report.
0 Check if SCC codes for each OS are accurate and update if needed.
El Evaluate"U" sources for significance and address according to policy.
[91 Calculations/forms appear to add up correctly.
0 All compliance issues are being addressed(e.g.Toxics limits, above TV thresholds, large emissions
increase/decrease,installation without a permit).
t] All volatile HAPs/TAPS were included in the VOC total.
X❑ Calculations and control efficiencies appear correct. Emission factors are the best available and most current factors
appropriate for the reporting facility(e.g. stack testing,AP-42,etc.).
0 Review facility comments and address any issues.
El Update ED(Data Entry Main)if additional information is required(corrections due date and date received).
El Check all ED QA/QC reports.
El Comparison with previous emission inventory must be made and outliers(> 10%)must be investigated and explained.
O Put inventory review comments and summarize any changes in ED-Data Entry Main "DAQ internal comments".

DAQ's Comments Regarding Inventory
Original EI packet received by this office on 06/22/2021 did not include the supporting emissions
calculations for the AERO data entry. Call/email to Howard Brown to request emissions calculations
on 8/3/2021. The emission calculations associated with the 2020 Wadesboro Air Emission Inventory were received via email from
Michael Canton on 08/05/2021.
Brick production decreased slightly from CY 2019 to CY 2020 by about 6%. Most emissions are generated from NG combustion it
Kilns 1&2. Kiln(K-2)has not operated since April 2020 reducing its production by 84%,which resulted in a decrease in emissions
Formaldehyde and MIBK(methyl isobutyl ketone)greater than 10%.

Certification Form and Supporting Emission Calculations
Triangle Brick Company—Wadesboro
Dear Sir or Madam:
Enclosed please find the 2020 Emission Inventory Certification Forms for Triangle Brick Company's
Wadesboro, North Carolina facility. The actual emission inventory was submitted using NCDAQ's
AERO system. In addition, attached are the supporting emission calculations for the emission
inventory for the facility.
Annual emissions were estimated using emission factors developed during a United States
Environmental Protection Agency/Brick Association of North Carolina sponsored source test at our
Merry Oaks facility, emission factors contained in the AP-42 Section 11.3 "Brick and Related Clay
Products," and factors from the NC DEQ emission estimation spreadsheet for natural gas and fuel oil
combustion. In addition, hydrogen fluoride, hydrogen chloride, and particulate emissions are based
on site-specific source testing. Tank emissions are calculated in accordance with AP-42 Section 7.1
Organic Liquid Storage Tanks" (revised in 2020) using Emission Master Tanks software. Dryer
particulate emissions are calculated utilizing AP-42 Section 11.19.1 "Sand and Gravel Processing."
Greenhouse gas emissions are not included since it was not mandatory and more importantly,
emission factors from brick plants are not readily available for these pollutants. Emissions of these
pollutants will be included when required.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (919) 544-1796 or Kevin Eldridge
at (919) 428-9508 or by email at Kevin.Eldridge@ERM.com.

3.All emission factors are for uncontrolled emissions from a rotary sand dryer.Since unit is
enclosed in building the emission factors have been multiplied by 0.01 to account for control.

1. Emission factor based on AP-42 Section 11.3"Brick and Structural Clay Product
Manufacturing, Final Report",August 1997.
2. Throughput based on multiplying fired brick production by 5.0/3.8 to account for moisture content of raw material.
3. PM2.5(and PM for primary crushing)emission factors not included in AP-42.Assumed emission factors=PM10 emission
factor.
4. PM-10 emission factor for primary crushing in AP-42 is based on a test on a primary crusher with a fabric filter control.
Assumed control had 99%efficiency.Triangle Brick's primary crusher has no control, therefore the AP-42 emission factor is
divided by(1 -.99).
