Discussion
Albemarle Sportfishing Boats is submitting this air pollutant emission inventory (AEI) for the
facility located at 140 Midway Drive in Edenton, NC, for calendar year 2007 in accordance with
the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources Title V permit 08995T04,
Part 1, Section 3.X.
Albemarle Boats contracted with URS Corporation to assist with the development of emission
estimates and completion of the attached forms.
The estimates were completed using information provided to URS Corporation by Albemarle
Sportfishing Boats concerning operation during the year 2007. Published emission factors and
material balances were used, where applicable.
The percent difference between emissions reported in 2006 and 2007 vary for some chemicals.
These variations are due to material substitutions, changes in amount of material usage, and a
r/ decrease in fuel oil usage in the boiler by 20%. A permit limit verification table compares 2007
■ AEI emissions to current permit limits.
Assumptions are defined with appropriate calculations which are provided with the emission
data forms.
The following sources are addressed in the 2007 AEI.
* Assembly operations (ES-1, Fugitive)
* Liner lamination/gelcoat spray room (ES-2, EP-1)
* Deck lamination/gelcoat spray room (ES-3, EP-2 and EP-3)
* Hull lamination/gelcoat spray room (ES-4, EP-4)
* 8.9 MMBtu/hr boiler (ES-5, EP-5)
* Secondary Production Area (ES-7, EP-7)
* Woodworking Spray Booth (ES-11, EP-1) - Insignificant Activity
* Emergency Generator (ES-G1, EP-G1) - Insignificant Activity
* Tool Room Operations (EP-8, EP-9) - Insignificant Activity
Note: Woodworking Spray Booth (ES-6, EP-6) was permanently removed from the facility in
2006, and therefore is no longer included in the AEI.

*Percent styrene calculated as total pounds of styrene from all gelcoats or resins(as applicable)divided by total Ibs used of each material.
'The loss factors for resins and gelcoats are based on NCDAQ guidance(1998 letter from K.Overcash to J.McKnight),except for the 0.122 loss factor for resin-spray
lay-up. Albemarle uses Magnum FIT non-atomizing(flowcoating)guns. This loss factor value is based on an emission factor study conducted by Engineering
Environmental Consulting Services in November 1998 for the flowcoater emission factors used in the Unified Emission Model developed for the NMMA and the
Composites Fabricators Association(CFA).
