The excavation for this new channel was constructed over a month ago and grass and live stakes are well established
now. The areas lacking vegetation on the side slopes of the channel by the water line are areas of bed rock. These rock
areas will not support vegetation but do provide a stable stream bank. This channel change area has been evaluated by
Jamie Lancaster and Randy Griffin from (PDEA-NEU) and by our REU-Field Operations Technician, Tim Robbins and
they all feel that this site is ready for water to be diverted. Please note that the lowest cross vane was eliminated earlier
due to the presence of bed rock (per early April '09 emails). As the tie in point work is completed, we will notify you if
additional bedrock is encountered that may interfere with this work.
