Subject: Request for Deviation from CAMA Work Plans Approval
Allen Steam Station, Belews Creek Steam Station, James E. Rogers Energy Complex,
Marshall Steam Station, Mayo Steam Electric Plant, and Roxboro Steam Electric Plant
Dear Mr. Toepfer:
On April 2, 2018, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality's Division of Water Resources
(DWR) received your request to deviate from the December 2014 work plans for the six subject sites. DWR
has reviewed and hereby approves the subject request with the following conditions:
• All well construction must follow the requirements under the 15A NCAC 02C .0100 rules. Any
deviation from the well construction standards will require submittal and approval of a variance
per 15A NCAC 02C .0118.
• All grout used in well construction must follow the requirements of 15A NCAC 02C .0107(e). The
use of any grout not allowed by the rule will require submittal and approval of a variance per 15A
NCAC 02C .0118,
• Locations of the nested well pairs shall be approved by the appropriate DWR Regional Office prior
to installation.
• Any deviations from this approved request will require approval by DWR prior to implementation.
