Per our discussion following the ACP preconstruction meeting on March 1, 2018, 1 am providing you
with the details of the tree felling that occurred within a wetland slightly beyond the limits of
disturbance (LOD). The area where trees were felled by hand beyond the LOD measures
approximately 131' long and varies from 0' up to 9' wide located at approximate milepost 133.1 in
Cumberland County. Thirty-four trees ranging in stump diameter from 1.25" up to 15" were
inadvertently cut by hand. The LOD was not accurately marked in this area due to an error in survey
staking that resulted from an errant line vertex in the GIS system.
In response to this incident, Atlantic is reviewing all line and vertex data in the GIS system to ensure
that this error does not happen again in the future; requested a variance from FERC to remove the
felled timber by hand and locate it within the actual LOD; and installed orange safety fence at the
accurate limits of disturbance to ensure that no other work occurs in this area beyond the actual LOD.
