Sullins, Deputy Director Division of Water Quality SUBJECT: Response to Request for Rescindment of 2001 NPDES Permit Addendum Dupont Wastewater Treatment Plant NPDES No. NC0003573 Bladen County Dear Mr. Johnson: Our office is in receipt of a written request from your facility dated February 4, 2004 that the effluent monitoring at Outfall 001 for the chemical compound HFA -hydrate be rescinded from the present requirements. The required monitoring was an addendum to the NPDES permit when the discovery of the unpermitted compound occurred in 2001. The available three years of data submitted on the Discharge Monitoring Reports(DMRs) revealed that the compound has not been detected. Our office will rescind the monitoring requirement beginning with the month of May 2004 with the understanding that in the future a monitoring requirement could occur again if the chemical compound is suspected in the effluent.
