I live near the Bladen County line, very close to DuPont. As many of the area's residents are, I am very concerned about DuPont's draft permit. I feel there are many reasons for a public hearing. DuPont's current permit is full of inconsistencies and loopholes. For example, the downstream "mixing zone" of 4500 feet should be completely removed. What justification is given for allowing testing almost one mile away from the discharge point? Additionally, if substances have daily limits, why is it not required that they be tested for daily? And why are substances on the list that have no limits set at all. Furthermore the permit should include standards and limitations on PFOA, a likely carcinogen that is known to be present on site. And finally, the state needs to do split samples to confirm results. These are some of the concerns held by area residents. Please allow us the opportunity to put these public concerns on record in a public hearing. Thank you for time and consideration, C Q,uit-Ot- T . 1G Laut-a &A q 9(, POinf- [W --t, ,JJ a- 3cAO
