Dear Division of Water Resources,
I am worried about the Atlantic Coast Pipeline and the harm it could cause to our environment and the communities
who would live near it. The construction of the pipeline would harm nearly 37,000 feet of 326 waterbodies and at least
467.7 acres of valuable wetlands. Our wetlands, streams, and rivers are an important part of our heritage and this
pipeline could put them in danger.
It's also concerning to me that the application put forward by Atlantic Coast Pipeline LLC doesn’t provide enough
information for DEQ to make a sound decision on whether or not to move forward with the pipeline.
I am so tired of the oil companies getting "first dibs" on our environment. North Carolina is wilderness wonderland that
deserves our protection. Our tourist economy depends on preserving these wetlands and wild areas so the tourist from
the North and South will continue to flock here and spend their recreational dollars in our economy. Please don't be so
short-sighted to jump at creating temporary employment with such a potentially harmful pipeline.
I hope that DEQ will reject this application and the pipeline all together.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Judith Mullen
