Sincerely, Susan Mills 4158 Bent Grass Drive Fayetteville, NC 28312 1 July 19, 2017 To the Department of Environmental Quality, I am writing to state my support for the Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP) project. As a resident of Cumberland County I support the pipeline because it is safe, promotes energy independence and will provide badly needed jobs for my county and the region. The Atlantic Coast Pipeline is a crucial infrastructure project for North Carolina. We need the ACP because North Carolina’s public utilities need additional supplies of natural gas to meet the growing energy needs of consumers. Not to mention, the ACP is also a safer means of transporting natural gas compared to highway, rail, and water. This project has had nearly three years of review and input by numerous federal, state and local bodies. FERC and other agencies have carefully analyzed the project for potential environmental impacts. The ACP partners have submitted tens of thousands of pages in the form of studies and documents. They have been transparent every step of the way. NUMEROUS forums have been held on this issue over the past three years. Everyone has had an opportunity to participate and be heard. Finally, I want to speak as a mother and wife. NOTHING is more important to me than my family. Under no conditions would I support something that I felt was remotely unsafe and/or harmful to my family. I have heard from all sides the past three years during multiple public forums. I have come to the conclusion that this project is safe. I trust the experts and I trust the process. It is now time to move forward with this project. Thank you.
