Toomers Creek is listed as a water supply watershed for the City of Wilmington. The proposed Wilmington
Bypass crosses within the 1 mile buffer area of the intake. The intake is abanoned, and is not pplanned to
be used by the City of Wilmington any longer. NCDOT has been told that if the Clty of Wilmington will
supply a letter stating that they no longer wish to use the creek as a water supply , then the hazardous spill
basin criteria will be waived by the DWQ.
