RE: Request for comments on NCDOT TIP Project No. U-4756, Morganton Road widening
from Sycamore Dairy Road to Glensford Drive, Cumberland County.
Dear Ms. Barnes:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is preparing the planning and
environmental studies for the above referenced project. Project plans call for adding a lane of traffic
in both directions and adding sidewalks to either side of the roadway. Bridge No. 228 on Morganton
Road over the All American Expressway is also proposed for widening. We anticipate that the
project will be processed as a Categorical Exclusion. The project is included in NCDOT's 2006-2012
Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). Maps of the project area are attached for your convenience.
The purpose of this letter is to solicit your input concerning the potential impact of the
proposed project upon social, economic, demographic, land use or environmental conditions near
the project site. The project is located in NCDOT Division 6.
Please note that there will be no formal interagency scopmg meeting for this project. To
allow us to fully evaluate the impacts of the proposed project, please respond in writing by October
17, 2005 to the address below concerning any beneficial or adverse impacts of the proposed project
relating to the interest of your agency.
