Subject: Cheoah Rec Flow
Jennifer,
I spoke with Myra Hair RE: Cheoah River High Flow Event/Low Inflow Protocol/Guide Curve for the Brookfield Project .
She believes that if they move the HFE back to Sunday, November 6, they can release the full 8 hours rather than 6 hours
on Saturday. The reasoning is that the guide curve requires the reservoir to begin dropping on 11/1 from 1936 msl to
1931 on 12/1, so the extra day would provide some additional storage. The reservoir is presently in Stage 1 and 0.43
below rule curve.
She thought they might get pilloried by the boating community if they did a 6 -hr release in Stage 1 of the LIP and then
come out of the LIP the following day, as her water manager speculated to her. (There's a forecast for rain at the end of
the week.)
She's going to talk more with her water manager. They'll need to send out an announcement if they move the release
back a day.
Pretty confusing. Hope this helps somewhat.
