These are the revised drawings including stormwater measures if you need me to print these and send by mail I will. let me know. I got Hydro to check behind the consultants on this and they agree that a dissipater pad should be more than sufficient. Due to Q10 discharge of .2 cfs and outlet velocity of .3 fps. Chad Coggins NCDOT Div. 4 Environmental Officer 252-296-3532 252-717-8699 (cell) Subject: RE: B-4540 From: "Rice, James R." <James.Rice@hdrinc.com> Date: Wed, 9 Apr 2008 11:16:49 -0500 To: "Chad Coggins" <ccoggins@dot.state.nc.us> CC: "Jimmy Marler" <jmarler@dot.state.nc.us>, "Wainwright, Dominic" <Dominic.Wainwright@hdrinc.com>, "Henderson, Jonathan" <Jonathan.Henderson@hdrinc.com> Chad, here is the revised impact sheet. What I have proposed, based on my conversation with Jimmy, is an 8X8 rip rap pad at the limits of the existing ROW. After we put in a box, it looks like it will be a little difficult to simply outlet onto the existing fill, so what we might have to do is excavate a little of the existing fill. I sketched up kind of what I was thinking. I think DWQ will like the fact that the dissipater would be flatter and not on the existing fill slope. It may or may not require a headwall, but that can be determined with further investigation. Whatever we do shouldn't be a problem since we are behind guardrail. We also need to emphasize that there is not much water at all coming off the bridge. The total Q10 discharge at the inlets is only 0.2 cfs and the 10-yr outlet velocity is 0.3 fps. Let me know what you think. James R. Subject: B-4540 Jimmy and James, Attached is a letter I received from DWQ today. I also followed 1 of 2 4/10/2008 9:06 AM [Fwd: B-4540] up with an office visit to fully explain and express what we discussed Jimmy. The response was that deck drains are not allowed over the stream OR BUFFER anymore. So some type of BMP will have to be designed to treat stormwater (scour hole grass Swale etc.).
