They are planning on building a new bridge to Sunset Beach in Brunsick Co. The bridge would be a high-rise type. This will allow for boat traffic to move faster and potentially impact the salt marsh. This alternative would require a partial relocation of Big Narrows Channel near the mouth. This channel is not deep enough for navigation and is surrounded by salt marsh. I am concerned that the mouth of the channel would be wider and thus change the hydrology. This will also allow higher energy from the boat waves to travel further up Big Narrows channel since they would not have to stop and wait for the bridge to open and perhaps change the sediment transport of the system. I am not requesting that we run a model, rather DOT and their consultant are asking if there's a model that can be run and what modifications would need to be made. Do you need to meet with me and/or John to discuss this? The consultant is David Griffin with Greiner 876-2760. Page: 1
