The information that was received by the Raleigh Qegional Office on February 7, 2000 has been reviewed.
The plat map and other information was provided. to allow a determination to be made as to whether or not
the site would require compliance with the Neuse Buffer Qule_ This specific project is referenced-by the
.Qaleigh Regional Office as NBQQO 00-021. This letter is being sent to you in response to your request
for confirmation that no feature exists in the area of the potential road crossing.
The feature is represented on the Wake County Soils map but not on the Lake Wheeler USGS Quad map.
On April 11, 2000 I completed a site visit and determined that there are no Features present in the area
of the road crossing that would be subject to the Neuse Qiver Basin: Nutrient Sensitive Waters Mana8ement
Strategy; Protection and Maintenance of Existing Riparian Areas, Administrative Code T15A02B.0233 (NCAC
0233) .
This letter addresses only the applicability of the Neuse Buffer Rules. For information relative'to the
Wetlands 401/404 issues, please contact Mr. John Dorney at 919- 733 -1786. Thank you for your attention to

receive written confirmation that no channel exists in the area (potential road crossing)
indicated on the attached map. In June 1999,1 investigated the area on a. preliminary
basis and determined that there were no channels (i.e. 50' buffers) in this area. Today, I
paid another visit to the site to confirm this for certain and concluded that thew is no
channel that meets the requirements for intermittent or greater stzeam classification in this
a)-ea.. The feature in question shows up on the Wake County Soil Survey but not on the
Lake Wheeler Topo. Quad. As you will note, I have attached copies of the soil survey,
.)SGS topo quad (Lake Wheeler, NC) and a sketch map.
