Ms. Burdette,
Hope you are doing well this afternoon. Just wanted to follow up my voicemail with some information regarding the
water quality permit modification we are working on. The Shotwell Landfill is located just off Smithfield Road in
southeastern Wake County. Several UTs to Marks Creek traverse the property. It is in the Neuse River Basin. The
property owner intends to expand the landfill and received the necessary approvals in 2007. The project ended up
requiring an Individual Permit and Variance. The property owner ended up with about $400,000 in mitigation fees,
mostly due to buffer impacts. The property owner, is interested in phasing the construction of the project and
therefore, phasing the mitigation payments.
The DWQ project number is 19970893 and the Certification number is 3716. 1 would like to talk through the process of
getting these permits modified and understand what steps we need to take to get this process going.
