Revised December 2012
Session Law 2012 -200 became effective on Aug: 1', 20,12. This -law
changed the application of the Neuse Ripadan•Buffer•Rules (15A
NCAC 02B.0233) and, Tar-Pamlico Riparian Buffer Rules (45A
NCAC 02B.0259).
The new law ,and related rule changes apply,only,to,the construction
of single - family residences on existing.lots1o6ted in4he couhties

In the Neuse and Tat- Pamlico river basins, there is a 50 -foot
protected riparian buffer that.is divided into two zones. The 30 -
feet closest to themater or coastal marsh (Zone 1) must remain
.undisturbed; the outer 20 feet (Zone 2) may be managed vegetation.
