Federal Project No. BRSTP-32(2), State Project No 8.1151401, WBS Element 33385.1.1, T.I.P. No. B-4018. The purpose of this letter is to submit revisions to the Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404 permit application submitted by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) on May 14, 2007. This project has a review date of October 30, 2007 and is scheduled to let on December 18 2007. Included with this request is a revised wetland impact summary sheet. The NCDOT is proposing the following revision: • Temporary fill in wetlands (< 0.01 ac) will be required for the installation of erosion control devices including some or all of the following: temporary silt fence, special sediment control fence, and temporary rock silt checks. These devices will be placed within the area of hand clearing and are necessary to reduce sediment loading in surface waters during construction. Installation, maintenance, and removal shall follow NCDOT's guide for Temporary Fill in Wetlands for Sedimentation and Erosion Control Measures. Erosion control measures will be located within zone 1 of Tar-Pamlico Riparian Buffers, however they will not result in additional impacts.
