A pipe coming on to the project cut a hole through the berms at the CWD intended to catch its water and overwhelmed the silt fence along the second rock lined ditch. Blythe has the designer looking at a solution to see if there is a hydrological deficiency at this location. In the interim a lateral ditch from the CWD to the rock lined ditch will be cut and lined with rip rap to work as a dissipater. Site 10H-VV had a loss of about 3 CY. The 18” RCP pipe deposited material and 57 stone into the stream. The upstream drop inlet has a dome with stone that was in good condition and protecting the inlet. Most likely this was material in the pipe that got washed out. Looking in the pipe it appears that almost all the material is washed out. This loss has already been cleaned up. Site 13A-DDD had a loss of about 4 CY. A slope drain received enough to material to fill up the sump in front of the SDO and overtop it while finding a weak spot in the silt fence beside it and undermining it. This is on the opposite side of the JS from the last loss. The solution here is to progress the grading which will fill in the sag area causing the issues to bring it up to road way grade to put the water into the areas easier to manage the situation. We’ll work on getting you some pictures. I currently not able to go onsite, but our Resident’s office will get you some pictures. For anything that has already been cleaned up, we won’t be able to get pictures unless they already had them. And please explain what led to the sediment losses at Sites 4 and 13. Thanks. Dave W. Thankfully, we have had a much better response this time from our contractor. Cleanup is underway. The losses include: Site 4 had a loss of about 8 CY, and the lost material will be removed from the streambed. Site 10H-VV had a loss of about 3 CY. There was no visible direct loss, rather the material was likely within the pipe system. It appears that the pipe is now clean. This area had some 57 stone mix in with the natural stream material, so it won’t all be 100% removed. We will remove what we can that causes minimum stream bed disturbance. 3 Site 13A-DDD had a loss of about 4 CY, and the lost material will be removed from the streambed. Let me know if you have questions or need additional information. Thanks.
