Inspect monthly, or after every runoff-producing rainfall event (0.5 inches or greater in a 24 hour period), whichever comes first. A. Check the sand filter side-slopes; remove trash, repair eroded areas before the next rainfall event. II. Quarterly A. Inspect the collection systems (i.e. grassed swales, concrete curb openings) for proper functioning. Clear accumulated trash from basin grates and basin bottoms, and check piping for obstructions. B. Check sand filter inlet pipes for undercutting, replace riprap and repair broken pipes. C. Re-seed grassed swales, including the vegetated filter if applicable, twice a year as necessary. Repair eroded areas immediately. III. Every 6 months A. Check filter after rainfall to determine if standing water remains for greater than 24 hours. If water is not draining completely from the sand filter in 24-hours, remove first 2-3 inches of discolored sand. Replace with new sand. Sand that has been removed must be dewatered and appropriately disposed in a landfill. At time that sand is maintained, sediment chamber should also be pumped and cleaned. This material must be dewatered and appropriately disposed in a landfill. IV. General A. All components of the sand filter system must be kept in good working order. I acknowledge and agree by my signature below that I am responsible for the performance of the above maintenance procedures.
