Subject Dare County Juniper Trail permit mod
NCDOT is considering replacing 80 of existing deteriorated wooden bulkhead with
80 of galvanized metal sheeting adjacent to the culvert replacement project on
Juniper Trail in Dare County There would be 20 of metal sheeting at each
corner The work was requested by the Town of Southern Shores and is located
within their right of way NCDOT s main concern is the time constraint with the
upcoming Feb 15th moratorium and if this additional work could be permitted in
time

I would like to know if we could modify the existing permit to include this work
and if so would I need to notify the landowners again

Could the existing NW 3 be modified to include this work and would it meet the
conditions of the DWQ 401 GC?
Attached is a drawing showing the proposed sheeting in red Let me know if you

Replacement of a portion of the existing bulklhead would not be considered new
impact therefore the threshold requiring written approval has not been exceeded
