Subject Request for a NW 3 Permit and DWQ 401 for the replacement of Low Impact Bridge # 27 over
Bridgers Creek on SR 1108 (Chapel Hill Church Rd) in Northampton County WBS # 45347 3 7
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is requesting the issuance of a NW 3 permit
and corresponding DWQ certification fo, the replacement of Low Impact Bridge # 27 in Northampton
County The bridge is located on SR 1208 approximately 1 1 miles north of the intersection of SR 1208 and
US 258 in Northampton County The bridge spans Bridgers Creek which is a tributary to the Roanoke
River The Bridgers Creek is classified by DWQ as class C waters Bridge # 27 is currently a wooden
structure with concrete deck that is 51 ft long by 29 ft wide This structure will be removed using
NCDOT s guidelines for bridge demolition and removal The proposed bridge will be replaced on its
existing alignment The new bridge structure will be 110 in length by 30 wide and built with precast cored
slab concrete deck concrete piles and concrete end bents An off site detour will be utilized during
construction An in water work moratorium will be applied from February 15`h through June 30`h in
accordance with recommendations from NCWRC This bridge is following the Low Impact Bridge Process
established by FHWA NCDOT and NC Regulatory Agencies
